Kraft Strikes Oil…..
For Cooking

“The first salad oil ever offered for your home use
by the maker of those wonderful Kraft prepared dressings.”

Kraft Salad OilThe oil mentioned in this article’s title may not necessarily have the same value as the crude oil that comes out of the ground, but for people who cooked and baked from scratch--- and people who ate the food cooked and baked from scratch, this stuff was very valuable.

This amazing product was known as Kraft Salad Oil.  It was the cooking oil with the “beautiful label on the bottle” (if you like vegetables, that is).  The listeners heard announcer Ed Herlihy talk about what Kraft Salad Oil could do in cooking and baking on NBC’s THE FALCON As you are about to find out, Kraft Salad Oil was a versatile cooking product.

The Kraft Foods Company had a reputation of making some great tasting prepared salad dressings (they still do today for that matter).  For those people who preferred to make their own, it could still be a Kraft type salad dressing when Kraft Salad Oil was used.  It blended with the other ingredients for an absolutely perfect tasting salad dressing without separation or funny taste--- unless some weird ingredients were used, to which Kraft Salad Oil won’t take the responsibility.

It said Kraft Salad Oil in bold green letters on the bottle with the beautiful label, but it did more than just make homemade salad dressing.  It was also the ideal product for cooking, frying, and baking.  Just like it did with salad dressing, Kraft Salad Oil blended well with ingredients in cooking and baking.  Instead of shortening, liquid cooking oil, or other types of fat, foods prepared with Kraft Salad Oil were lighter and better tasting.  Since the food agreed with the human digestion system, no one was frantically reaching for the Tums (which may not necessarily be the best of news for the makers of Tums).

You noticed that Kraft Salad Oil played well with other ingredients.  There was a very good reason for that.  On the commercial, Herlihy called it “Superfined .”  More than just refined, Kraft Foods Company processed Kraft Salad Oil in a special way that it was lighter bodied than the competition.  With a lighter content, Kraft Salad Oil blended completely with other ingredients.  No other cooking oil can come close to the lightness and blending ability of Kraft Salad Oil, because only the people of the Kraft Foods Company had the ability to use the Superfined process.

It was Superfined, it blended with other ingredients; and the food had a flavorful light taste.  All this good stuff meant Kraft Salad Oil must have cost several arms and legs to buy.  To the chagrin of the competition, it didn’t.  Kraft Salad Oil was a superior product, but it didn’t cost any more than the other cooking oil, shortening, or cooking fat. .

With the creation of Kraft Salad Oil, the art of cooking has become easier.  It did its part with food preparation, and the cook received all the credit from everyone who ate it.
