The Nokia Lumia 710, one of the first two "real Windows Phones" launched in the partnership between Nokia and Microsoft, will be landing in the states January 11. The tidy Windows Phone Mango handset will run on T-Mobile's HSPA+ 4G network, and features a budget-friendly price tag of only $50.

The Lumia 710 has good, but not wow-worthy specs. It houses a 1.4GHz processor, 8GB of storage, and a 3.7-inch, 800x480 ClearBlack LCD display. It's also got a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera. The $50 purchase price, especially when paired with T-Mobile's $50 unlimited talk, text and web rate plan, makes the phone an upgrade that won't hurt sensitive pocket books as deeply as other high-end smartphone models.

T-Mobile feels it'd be a great smartphone for those making the first-time switch from a feature phone, and with the low price and entry-level specs, we're inclined to agree.

Last week, a manual for the Nokia Lumia 710 showed up in the FCC with T-Mobile branding, so today's announcement wasn't quite unexpected. The Lumia 800, which was introduced at the same time as the 710, debuted in Europe earlier this year but won't be available in the U.S. until some time in 2012. Although a Nokia executive said that Nokia and T-Mobile have a strong partnership, it's not clear at this point if the 800 will also be landing on T-Mobile, or another carrier (or carriers).

The Lumia 710 will be available in two colors, all black, or a white face with a black rear casing.
