Episode 44: Sarah Hobbs on Outdoor Storytelling & Scottish Folklore

Join me for a conversation with Sarah Hobbs, a storyteller who lives near Aviemore and runs Strathspey Storywalks. We talk about Sarah’s career path as a storyteller and also her creative journeys through the Scottish Highlands.

Sarah Hobbs is a professional storyteller – that is to say, she tells stories for a living. With her company Strathspey Storywalks she offers guided nature walks in the Strathspey and Badenoch regions that combine her passion for Scotland’s rich storytelling heritage with her passion for nature and landscapes.

Tune in for my chat with Sarah in which we cover…

  • How she became to be a storyteller
  • How stories can help us connect with landscapes and enrich our travel experiences
  • Her favourite thing about storytelling
  • Some unexpected places to visit in Badenoch and Strathspey
  • How the Gaelic language impacts the landscape and how we interact with it
  • Accidental mushroom foraging and much more!

If you don’t know much about Badenoch, go back an episode and listen to ‘The Land of Stories‘ for a glimpse of this wonderful region.
