9 Volt Batteries at Walgreens

Though they aren't used by as many devices as other common cells, 9 volt batteries may be an essential part of powering several of your electronics. These high-energy cells provide as much electricity as six regular batteries, and they are designed to be relatively compact. At Walgreens, you can find an assortment of 9 volt batteries from top brands like Energizer and Duracell. You can easily choose your preferred power source. You'll also find that these products come in packs that let you select how many batteries you actually need.

What Sets 9 Volt Batteries Apart?

Compared to the standard cells you'll use to power the majority of your electronics, 9 volt batteries look completely different. Rather than the cylindrical shape made popular by AA and AAA batteries, these cells are typically rectangular and feature two connectors on one side of the battery that must be snapped into place. 9V batteries were first introduced to power transistor radios, but they are still used by certain electronic devices today. Regular battery cells are typically capable of producing 1.5V, so each 9V battery actually contains six of these cells. In the 1990s, an offshoot of the 9 volt battery--known as the AAAA--was created by separating these six cells.

Types of 9 Volt Batteries

Like other common cell sizes, you can choose between several different types of 9 volt batteries today. The main difference between these varieties is the anode (power source) used within them. Alkaline batteries have been standard for years because they are affordable and relatively trustworthy. High-density alkaline batteries, in particular, are longer lasting than regular alkaline cells because their cores are packed more tightly and their casing is extra secure. More recently, however, alkaline cells have started to be supplanted by lithium batteries--which are able to last much longer than alkaline varieties (both in standby and usage time). Lithium cells are more expensive, but the price difference may even out over time since you won't need to buy as many replacements.

It can be frustrating and inconvenient to find yourself without the batteries you need when one of your electronic devices dies. Browse the selection of 9 volt batteries available from Walgreens to stock up today.
