“Ten years; it’s hard to believe!” exclaimed designer Vera Wang at the intimate cocktail soiree celebrating at the Sixty Soho hotel, a decade of her Simply Vera line at Kohl’s. “They’re great partners,” said Wang of the department store. “They wanted their client to embrace fashion and fit it into their wardrobe and life.” The collaboration, which has expanded to include housewares and accessories, is one of Wang’s professional achievements. “I feel very privileged to be doing it,” said the designer, who topped off her look with a few strands of gilded blonde hair. “The care they put into every garment; it’s really all about being behind me and believing in me. I’m very lucky.”

With Thanksgiving and the holiday party season rapidly approaching, does Wang have any tips on how to get her inimitable style? “I love a jumpsuit,” she said, sporting a black satin version. “You can eat in it and no one sees it. You can drink in it, too,” added the designer with a laugh. She advises it’s also all about the little bits. “I yanked out black leather gloves!” said Wang, showing off her ruched-to-the-elbow pair. But after 10 years of bringing affordable style to everyone, what does Wang want to do next? “An athletic line. Not athleisure, real athletic, because I was a bit of an athlete myself. It could be great to take that knowledge, and the people I’ve dressed, and create something I think is newer, fresher, and offbeat.” And no doubt, in Wang’s signature, sinewy, and timeless style.
