Homer Simpson is adding another musical genre to his employment playlist: hip-hop.

In an exclusive preview clip from the Jan. 15 episode of The Simpsons (Fox, 8 ET/PT), Homer is described as "rap's new king." The patriarch of the long-running Fox animated hit has previously been involved in the worlds of rock, opera and country music.

The clip, titled 'Hip-Hop Homie,' will air during Sunday's episode of the animated comedy.

'The Great Phatsby,' the show's first hour-long episode in its 28-season run, melds the worlds of Fox's music-business-focused Empire and F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby (along with Baz Luhrmann's 2013 film), as Homer and his billionaire boss, Mr. Burns, get involved with a hip-hop mogul.

Empire's Taraji P. Henson guest stars as the mogul's ex-wife and Keegan-Michael Key plays rapper Jazzy James, who helps Mr. Burns gain revenge on the rich music producer. The episode also features rap luminaries Snoop Dogg, RZA and Common playing themselves, along with original music from music producer, singer and musician Jim Beanz.

"Our lyrics, which I think are good, seemed to be acceptable to these great artists. But (they) elevated them," says Dan Greaney, who wrote the episode. "Snoop, RZA, Common, each of them transformed these words."
