After announcing the Android-based Coolpix S800c, the company has introduced the Nikon Coolpix S01 that flaunts a compact cum trendy design. Cast in a stainless sheath with a glossy exterior, the device will be available drenched in shades of red, white, pink and silver.
Measuring 51.2mm x 77mm x 17.2mm in dimensions, the 10.1MP camera weighs not more than 96 grams. It is equipped with a wide-angle Nikkor glass lens that offers 3x optical zoom, an Expeed C2 image processor and a contrast-detect TTL AF system. This device provides an ISO range of 80 to 1600 and a built-in Xenon flash which should render decent stills even in the dark. Its non-removable Li-ion EN-EL11 battery is capable of delivering up to 190 shots on a single charge.

On the memory front, the camera is equipped with roughly 7.3GB of storage that can be expanded via the built-in SD card slot. It dons a 2.5-inch TFT LCD with featuring a GUI and an anti-reflection coating. The interface aims at delivering a user-friendly experience by providing an easy-to-tap four-segment homescreen. There is also an Easy Auto Mode that automatically adjusts exposure levels and selects a scene mode such as landscape, portrait, night portrait, night landscape, backlighting and close-up, based on the surrounding.
The Nikon Coolpix S01 price and release date are tagged at $179.95 (approx. Rs. 9,970) and September, respectively.
