Slc. Golden Wax 'Lone Star II' HCC/AOS x self

Golden Wax (C. Chocolate Drop x Slc. Kauai Starbright) ‘Lone Star II’ produces huge clusters of 15 or more waxy, bright yellow flowers. These are good vigorous growing plants that bloom in January and February; the plants will be 20” tall at maturity carrying lots of waxy yellow flowers. These are truly spectacular when mature.

Slc. Golden Wax 'Lone Star' HCC/AOS x Slc. Golden Wax 'Lone Star II' HCC/AOS

Golden Wax is (C. Chocolate Drop x Slc. Kauai Starbright) ‘Lone Star’ produced big clusters of 15+, deep ruby red flowers. The plant ‘Lone Star II’ has clusters of, bright yellow flowers. This sib cross will bring out flowers with a red, orange and yellow color. A good vigorous growing plant and reliable bloomer for January and February, the plants will be 20” tall at maturity and produce a spectacular display of flowers.

C. Chocolate Drop 'Volcano Queen' x self

Chocolate Drop (C. guttata x C. aurantiaca) is a famous hybrid with clusters of waxy red flowers. Previously only clones such as ‘Kodama’ were available. Now we have selfed one of the new clones to produce more Chocolate Drops! Expecting dark brown reds with dark red lips in nice clusters of 10 or more flowers.

C. Claesiana (C. intermedia var. aquinii 'Francisco Miranda' x C. loddigesii 'Aranda B' HCC/AOS)

This is a remake of an old hybrid. With this remake we are using a fine example of the aquinii form of C. intermedia and a very full and large flowered C. loddigesii. Expect 4-6 lavender pink flowers with about 50% with purple petal flares. Excellent vigor and great looking flowers, a classic Cattleya. Similar to SVO 1562 with a different clone of C. intermedia var. aquinii. Compact to large plant sizes

C. Claesiana (C. intermedia var. aquinii 'SVO' HCC/AOS x C. loddigesii 'Aranda B' HCC/AOS)

This is a remake of an old hybrid. For this remake we have selected superb species as the parents. This C. intermedia has very flat flowers and the C. loddigesii a very full and large flowered. Expect 4-6 lavender pink flowers with about 50% with purple petal flares. Excellent vigor and great looking flowers, a classic Cattleya. Similar to SVO 1537 with a different clone of C. intermedia var. aquinii. Compact to large plant sizes.

C. jenmanii var. coerulea x sib

The seed also came from Greg Allikas. Coerulea varieties of Cattleya species are uncommon and much sought after. Here we have a selfing of one of Greg’s finest blue C. jenmanii. These are very limited.

C. schroderae 'SVO' AM/AOS x self

C. schroderae is a wonderful species; it carries 3-4 flowers in shades of light pink, with a beautiful orange lip. Here we have selfed our best plant with the largest flowers ever awarded by the AOS.

L. purpurata 'Tipo' AM/AOS x self

The cultivar ‘Tipo’ AM/AOS is the plant selfed by Stewarts Orchids that resulted in the spectacular L. purpurata ‘Mary Jo’ FCC/AOS. Here we have selfed it again, expect superior progeny.

C. luddemanniana 'Jim Elmore' AM/AOS x C. luddemanniana 'Arthur Chadwick' AM/AOS

Both ‘Jim Elmore’ and ‘Arthur Chadwick’ are of fine quality. They have light lavender flowers with darker full lips. I believe this is the first time these two superb luddemanniana’s have been combined. Expect some very fine progeny out of these

C. schroderae 'SVOII' HCC/AOS x C. schroderae 'SVO' AM/AOS

C. schroderae is a wonderful species; it carries 3-4 flowers in shades of light pink, with a beautiful orange lip. Here we have sib crossed our two best plants together.

L. purpurata var. aco 'SVO' x L. purpurata var. venosa striata '7 flwr'

Two very nice color forms of purpurata combined. We are expecting a higher than average flower count as both parents carry many blooms.

C. mossiae var. coerulea 'SVO' x C. mossiae var. coerulea 'Good Lip'

Two superb coerulea forms crossed together. C. mossiae blooms for Mother’s Day. Don’t miss out on these.

C. Pittiae (C. loddigesii var. coerulea 'Blue Sky' AM/AOS x C. schilleriana var. coerulea 'Orchidglade' AM/AOS)

Here we are breeding for spotted blues! This primary hybrid is similar to C. Brabantiae (C. loddigesii x C. aclandiae), expect improved flower count due to the influence of C. schilleriana. The plants are expressing clear green foliage with a slight grey cast on the developing sheaths. I believe this is an indicator of light blue flower color and darker blue lips, however a few pink ones may appear. The blue flowered forms will be extremely collectable. Don’t miss out on these.

C. Lawre-Mossiae (C. mossiae var. coerulea 'SVO' x C. lawrenceana var. coerulea 'Pedrito')

I first saw this cross in Venezuela, made with the normal colored forms and I was really impressed. While in Venezuela I was able to acquire the pollen of the very rare coerulea color form of C. lawrenceana, the plant had 8 beautiful flowers. The mossiae is one of my best with dark coerulea flower color and good growth characteristics. These are growing well and should be very nice coerulea’s.

C. loddiglossa var. coerulea x C. leopoldii var. coerulea

The Loddiglossa (C. amethystoglossa x C. loddigesii) has 9 to 11 light blue flowers with darker lips, produced on a 12” inflorescence. The leopoldii blooms with 10 or more flowers, the petals and sepals are green, the lip and part of the column are blue. Our first batch of these have all flowered out in shades of blue with darker lips! These are very collectable bifoliate coerulea Cattleyas. Highly recommended and not to be missed. Blc. SunCoast Sunspots 'SVOII' AM/AOS x Blc. SunCoast Sunspots 'SVO' HCC/AOS

SunCoast Sunspots (Lc. Jungle Elf x Blc. Waianae Leopard) is a brilliant yellow flower with distinctive spots and a ruby red lip. Here we have crossed 2 superb siblings to produce more variation of yellow flowers with burgundy spots. These are very nice, producing the largest yellow flowers with spots.

C. labiata var. rubra 'Schuller's' x C. labiata var. rubra 'Fertigo' SM/JOGA, AM/AVO

The rubra variety C. labiata has much darker purple flowers than the type species. This is a pairing of 2 fine varieties. These are strong growing seedlings with a purple cast to the leaves indicating the rubra form.

Lc. Alarcon 'Gran Blue Jeanne Marie' AM/AOS x C. intermedia var. aquinii, coerulea 'Blue Splash'

Alarcon (Lc. Canhamiana x C. Dupreana) has received many awards for its size and coerulea color. Splashed blue flowers are a new breeding trend, the introduction of the intermedia var. aquinii, coerulea 'Blue Splash' will give this desired flare to the petals in about 50% of the cross. The best will be very nice.

C. luddemanniana var. coerulea 'Kathleen' x C. luddemanniana var. coerulea 'Francisco'

Good coerulea luddemanniana are very expensive, here we have combined two excellent cultivars. These are growing beautifully with good vigor. The ‘Francisco’ cultivar is one of the best from the new line breeding out of Venezuela. I have purchased many imported seedling of these coerulea color forms for a lot more $’s each…..

Slc. Armonia de Suenos 'SVO' x Blc. SunCoast Sunspots 'SVOII' AM/AOS

We are continuing with our next generation of yellow flowers with spots. Armonia de Suenos (Slc. Jungle Gem x Lc. Varut Startrack) is a very waxy yellow with burgundy spots and red lip. SunCoast Sunspots (Lc. Jungle Elf x Blc. Waianae Leopard) is a brilliant yellow flower with distinctive spots and a ruby red lip. This cross will produce improved flowers ranging from bright yellow to orange, burgundy spots and a red lip.

Lc. Allen Condo 'SVO' AM/AOS x Lc. Ruby Cheer 'SVO' HCC/AOS

These will be 2’ tall plants when mature, carrying 7-12, four inch dark burgundy flowers with deep red lips. I love this type of summer blooming bifolate Cattleyas. Allen Condo is (Lc. Summerland Girl x C. Mrs. Mahler) and Ruby Cheer is (Lc. Orglade Charm x Lc. Elaine’s Ruby). When you look up the species in the back ground you find leopoldii is 43% of its makeup and 25% is dowiana! This explains the tall plants, high flower count and big flowers. These take longer to mature but are just spectacular when in bloom.

Lc. Trick or Treat 4N x self

Trick or Treat (Lc. Icarus x Lc. Chit Chat) is a classic hybrid and not readily available…until now! Tall growers with big heads of star shaped, bright orange flowers. Species in this fairly simple hybrid include Laelia cinnabarina, harpophylla, and C. aurantiaca. This is a selfing of a tetrapoid variety that originated in New Zealand. These will be great show plants to bloom in March.
