Society Medallions are a new item in Fortnite as Chapter 5 Season 1. These shield-buffing items are tough to grab and get repeatedly marked on the map, whether it’s through an image of the emblem or a huge golden circle.

Below, we detail what Society Medallions do and where to find them in Fortnite.

What are Society Medallions?

Society Medallions are boss drops that buff your shield. Max Shield Medallions will increase your maximum shield (obviously) and normal medallions will give you shield regen. Both are extremely useful.

Medallions do not take up inventory space, as they have their own respective slot in your bag (like gold does).

You can also use medallions to enter vaults that have Weapon Mod Benches in them. The vaults are in the points of interest that the medallions start in.

Where to find Society Medallions in Fortnite

You can see the medallions just straight-up on the map. At the start of the game, the location of all five medallions will be marked on the map, but you can find them in these locations:

To get the medallion, you’ll need to eliminate the boss NPC holding it. However, unlike other NPCs who are pretty easy to drop on and elim immediately, these NPCs all have respawning lackies that’ll fire at you once they see you. That said, it may be easier to loot up around the named locations and then head in to nab a medallion.

Luckily, the NPCs shoot like Star Wars Storm Troopers (meaning that they aim very poorly), so you shouldn’t have to worry too much about the lackeys. Focus on the boss with a decent gun and you should be able to get a medallion. Note that the boss will replenish its shield frequently, making it an annoying target.

All of the NPCs stay in the same named locations, based on our testing. Peter Griffin is in Snooty Steppes, Montague is in Grand Glacier, Valeria is in Reckless Railways, Nisha is in Fencing Fields, and Oscar is in Lavish Lair.

If you see an orange or gold circle on the map, this means a player in that vicinity has a medallion, too. You can eliminate that player to take their medallion.
