Botanical Description

Medium-sized erect orchid with a longitudinal stem with dark and soft hair, about 0.5-0.8 mm in diameter and 25-30 cm long. Leaves grow symmetrically on young stems. Terminal inflorescence with three to five flowers, white, with orange inside, up to 3 cm wide. Common, with harvesters picking 3-5 kg per day; in high demand, selling at $0.3 per pack (fresh). Slow growing in many forest types all over the country but mainly in dry dipterocarp forest.

Description of Use

there are signs that this genus is becoming rarer due to high demand from traders. It fetches about $0.3-$0.5 per kg at local markets, mainly in the south. Planting is best from rhizomes.
