Truly a "one in a million" chance at finding a Catt. bowringiana semi-alba in nature! This species is native to Belize and Guatemala where it grows in lowland, hot to warm areas. These plants have an interesting bloom habit: the flowers open initially with a bit of coerulea color that transitions to white with a magenta lip after a few days. In very bright light there can be a purple blush in the flowers. We have found these orchids to be vigorous, easy growers that produce sturdy tall, bifoliate pseudobulbs. When these plants reach full maturity they can have between 25 to 50 flowers on a spike! Our latest batch of seedlings are expected to reach flowering size by 2024.
The plants listed as clonal numbers, clone 1, Clone 2 etc. are plants from our breeding stock that we have been growing for around 10-15 years and were selected for their vigor and flower quality. These plants typically bloom in October and are in sheath with buds forming as of 9/21/23
