A re-make of this classic cross originally made in 1965 by the Rod McLellan company of California. We are producing many classic primary hybrids that have not been seen for many years (and in some cases, generations). Many of these hybrids appear outstanding in the prints and paintings that were made in the 1800s and early 1900s. We decided to use coerulea (blue) parents in this remake with the aim of producing plants with stout growths, thick round leaves and flowers held nicely above the foliage. We expect the flowers to be approx. 3" wide. We made this cross in 2012 and they should flower in winter to spring of 2024. Limited availability.
The first photo is of C. walkeriana var. coerulea 'Chou-Jo' and the second photo is of Guir. skinneri var. coerulea 'My Blue Heaven'.
