This wonderful Cattleya was registered with the Royal Horticultural Society in 1982 by Ben Kodama, a famous orchid grower and breeder in Hawaii. This is one of the Japhet types which are well known for cut flower use especially for weddings. The flowers are about 4 inches in size and are very long lasting for a Cattleya (6-8 weeks). The fragrance is heavenly. These plants can flower twice per year. Once in Summer and again in late winter. We usually list these as in spike when the flower buds are still in the sheath. The flowering time in summer is typically in July or August. In late winter it is around March.
