Found in northwestern Peru and western Ecuador in seasonally dry forests at 70 to 1400 meters as a caespitose, medium sized, hot to cool growing epiphyte occuring with elongate, large cylindric, fusiform pseudobulbs carrying oblong-ligulate, acute, cuneate below into the petiolate base leaves that blooms as a female on a 4" [10 cm] long, few fragrant flowered raceme arising from the upper nodes of the mature to leafless pseudobulb and occuring in the spring and summer.
Different than C. chlorochilon in having very flat flowers, a rounder lip without concavity on the sides, nodding 2 or less flowers large 4" [10 cm] in size.
