Paph. Hilo Prince (Shin-Yi Prince ' Grace' x rothschildianum ' New Balance ' FCC/AOS) , NF2707
Paph. Hilo Prince was created and registered by James Fang of Hilo Orchid Farm in 2019. This very showy multi-floral hybrid is very similar to Paph. Prince Edward of York, but faster growing, and more affordable. The pod parent, Paph. Shin-Yi Prince is Paph. Prince Edward of York x Paph. sanderianum. Paph. Prince Edward of York is Paph. rothschildianum × Paph. sanderianum. So Paph. Hilo Prince has a double dose of Paph. rothschildianum. This hybrid has very strong influence from Paph. sanderianum and Paph. rothschildianum.
Paph. Hilo Prince is ideal for under light culture as the flower spike is shortened by Paph. sanderianum. Paph. rothschildianum improves the size of flowers and color. Long petals are from the influence of Paph. sanderianum. The large, waxy flowers have a heavy substance and last for months. The plants being offered have at least 18 – 20 inch leaf span, are about 4 – 5 years old, and should bloom next season. We flowered some in the heat of summer (which is rare). The flower color is better during the cooler temperatures of late spring. Paphs of this type prefer intermediate to warm temperatures, semi-bright indirect light, good humidity, and water and fertilizer sufficient to keep the potting medium just moist but not soggy. Highly recommended for multifloral Paph lover

No two plants will be the same from this cross, and they will flower in a range of possibilities coming from the two parents.
