Basic operation Being able to use the buttons effectively is important for operating the digital camera. Just display a menu on the monitor and use the buttons to choose a setting. Familiarize yourself with the buttons and menus before reading the explanations of the various functions.

Tips before you start taking pictures Your pictures are almost guaranteed to come out well just by setting the mode dial to p-AUTOand pressing the shutter button. But occasionally, you can't focus on your subject or the picture doesn't come out the way you want...
The camera automatically detects the focus target in the frame. The level of contrast is one of the criteria it uses to detect the subject. The camera may fail to determine subjects with lower contrast than the surroundings with an area of extremely strong contrast in the frame.

Telephoto and wide-angle shooting are possible at 2.8x magnification (the optical zoom limit, equivalent to 38 mm - 106 mm on a 35 mm camera). By combining the optical zoom with the digital zoom, zoom magnification can be increased to a maximum of approximately 12x.

You can record movies with this camera. You can playback the recorded movies with this camera. Sound can not be recorded. The focus and zoom are locked. If the distance to the subject changes, focus may be compromised. Turn the mode dial to _:>.
This function lets you take pictures using the self-timer. Fix the camera securely on a tripod for self-timer shooting. This function is useful for taking pictures when you want to be included in the photograph. • The self-timer settings screen is displayed.
You can take advantage of panorama shooting with an Olympus Picture Card. Panorama shooting lets you connect pictures with overlapping edges into a single panoramic picture, using the OLYMPUS Master software. The part of the previous picture where it will be joined to the next picture does not remain in the frame on the edge of the screen.
Press _ to exit panorama shooting. Note • Panorama mode can only be used when there is a card in the camera. Panorama mode is only available with Olympus cards. • [PANORAMA] is not available in [] mode. • During panorama shooting, the flash is not available.

Playback With film-type cameras, you cannot see the pictures you have taken until the film has been developed. And aren't you sometimes disappointed with the results when you do eventually see them? You can copy (backup) all the image data stored in the internal memory to the card. The image data in the internal memory is not erased by copying it to the card. The optional card is required to use the backup function.
The camera automatically switches to the sleep mode and stops operating if net used for the specified time period. You can specify the time period before the camera enters sleep mode. The camera activates again by pressing or the shutter button.
Printing pictures You can print out the pictures you have taken either at a photo store or at home on your own printer. If you go to a photo store, it is a good idea to store the print reservation data on the card first.
By connecting the camera to a PictBridge-compatibie pdnter with the USB cable, you can print out recorded pictures directly. With the camera connected to the printer, select the pictures you want to print and the number of prints on the camera's monitor.
