Introducing the exquisite Psychopsis Mariposa 'Special' Three Lips, a rare gem in the orchid world. This is a primary hybrid between Psychopsis papilio x Psychopsis Kalihi, boasts a unique peloric form where the petals have transformed into the lip, creating an enchanting display of nature's creativity.

What sets Psychopsis Mariposa 'Special' apart is its remarkable ability to bloom continuously for 5 to 15 years on the same flower stem. Each stem bears a single flower, but as the plant matures, it develops numerous stems, ensuring a profusion of blooms. Remarkably resilient, even if a flower spike is accidentally damaged, it can branch below the break and continue to produce flowers, providing enduring beauty to your space.

Cultivating this captivating orchid is a delight. Psychopsis thrive when slightly crowded, preferring fresh potting mix. Repotting every year or so is recommended to maintain vitality, but be cautious not to overpot. During the growing season from spring to fall, ensure regular watering, allowing the potting media to dry slightly between waterings. In winter, reduce watering frequency to prevent rot from fungal infections.

Optimal growth conditions for Psychopsis Mariposa 'Special' include intermediate to warm temperatures ranging from 55º to 85ºF and moderate light levels. Adequate air circulation is essential to mimic their tropical habitat, where high humidity prevails. Watering at the base of the plant as the potting media dries out is ideal, mimicking the care regimen for Phalaenopsis orchids.

For best results, use clean, mineral-free water and avoid softened water, which contains salt. Fertilize with a half-strength 20-20-20 fertilizer with every watering during the active growing season. Handle these plants with care, as they dislike root disturbance. Repot only when necessary, preferably when the potting media has become stale, and avoid repotting while the plant is in spike or flower.

This is a blooming size in a 4" pot, newly repotted, about 1 to 2 years to bloom, grown from seed, limited!

With proper care and attention, this orchid will reward you with years of enchanting blooms, a testament to the beauty and resilience of nature's wonders.
