The Redmi 8 is official in India. The Redmi 8 is the successor to the Redmi 7 that launched in India earlier this year alongside the Redmi 7A. The Redmi 8 comes with gradient design and includes fingerprint sensor on the back panel. The Redmi 8 comes with a Dot drop notch that includes the selfie camera. On paper the Redmi 8 is almost similar to the Redmi 8A accept from some changes here and there.

As far as the specs are concerned the Redmi 8 isn't a big upgrade over the Redmi 8A. The Redmi 8 comes with a fingerprint sensor on the back panel that doesn't exist on the Redmi 8A. The Redmi 8 also comes with face unlock support. The Redmi 8 comes in three colour variants -- Sapphire Blue, Onyx Black and Ruby Red.

Processor: The Redmi 8 is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 processor.

RAM: 3GB RAM and 4GB RAM

Back camera: On the rear panel the Redmi 8 includes two cameras. The primary camera uses a 12MP Sony IMMX363 sensor while the secondary camera includes a 2MP depth sensor.

Front camera: For selfies the Redmi 8 equips an 8MP camera sensor.

Battery: The Redmi 8 comes with a massive 5000mAh battery with 18W fast charging support.

Software: The Redmi 8 runs MIUI 10 based on Android 9 Pie.

Redmi 8 price and availability

The Redmi 8 is launched in India with price starting at Rs 7,999. This price is for the base model of the Redmi 8 that comes with 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage. The top-end model 4GB + 64GB Redmi 8 variant is priced at Rs 8,999. As a part of special offer, Xiaomi will be selling the first 5 million units of the Redmi 8 4GB + 64GB variant at Rs 7,999.

The Redmi 8 will go on sale for the first time in India on October 12 at 12am on Mi.com, Mi Home and Flipkart.
