Barbora Votíková joins Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham Hotspur has today announced the signing of Czech international goalkeeper Barbora Votíková. The 26 year old joins after two seasons with Paris Saint-Germain, where she won the Club’s third French Cup and reached the semi-finals of the Champions League.

Prior to suffering an ACL injury in the second leg of the semi-final, Votíková led the D1 Arkema in clean sheets with 9 in 12 starts, and was a finalist for UNFP Goalkeeper of the Year.

At international level, Votíková has 38 starts since assuming the #1 responsibilities at 17 years old. In recent qualification campaigns, it took a playoff penalty shootout to stop the team reaching Euro 2022, while the Czechs twice held defending Euro champions Netherlands to draws in qualifying for the current World Cup.

Votíková joins a changed Spurs, who have seen a new manager and new signings join the Club since the end of the last season. And, in the Women's Super League, she joins one of the fastest growing and one of the most competitive leagues in the world.

The pull of the league is something that Votíková referenced when explaining her motivations for moving to Spurs, saying: "It feels amazing. It's going to be a big challenge, a big experience that I've been seeking because this league is the centre of women's football now and I want to a part of it."

Congratulations and good luck, Bára! Welcome to London!
