Acadia 28 in. Tall Self-Watering Graphite Grey Polyethylene Planter

A:  I love these planters; I have two of them. But I do agree: I don't understand the self watering part. I water my plants as needed, and there are drainage holes halfway up, inside the planter. I never have a problem with mosquitoes -- the water is collected in the bottom reservoir, with only a small hole in the bottom on the base for run off.

A:  Thank-you for your commentary as we appreciate this is a concern for many customers. Please note that the water reservoir in our planters is entirely enclosed within the inner walls of the planter and the only way for mosquitoes to access this area would be through the very small 1/4" overflow drainage hole. Mosquitoes prefer to lay their larvae in larger open standing areas of water such as bird baths, buckets, air conditioner drip trays, garbage cans etc. The limited access to our reservoir coupled with the fact that the water in the reservoir is continually being removed and replenished through the natural absorption and watering process means that our planters are far from an ideal breeding ground for mosquitoes and other pests.

A:  This particular planter style is molded as one piece to create a double wall reservoir system so the inside is unfortunately not removeable. Other styles that we offer that do have the removeable tray option include: Fairfield Tall, Nantucket Tall, Cambridge Tall, Cape Cod Tall, Lakeland Tall, Bordeaux Tall, Augusta, Aberdeen, Vienna, and Versailles.

A:  The Acadia 28in Tall planter holds up to 9.9 gallons of water in the reservoir so as long as you are not planting tree style or tall bushes you shouldn't have any problems with the winds. If you have any other questions or concerns please reach out to customerservice@gomayne.com

A:  I have 4 planters and have not experienced tip-over. You should be fine as long as the base has water in it. The inner section of the planter is molded, there isn't a removable plant tray or container inside the planter to insert a brick.

A:  Hello, I am sorry to hear that you are having issues with this planter. If you are using the water reservoir feature you will need to drill a 1/4" hole on the side of the planter. There is a dimple where it should be drilled. If you haven't done this that could mean that your soil is too wet. We would love to trouble shoot this with you over the phone.
