Who Knew Jack Black and Angelina Jolie Were Such Good Friends?

Nobody. The answer is nobody.

So People Magazine blew my mind with an interesting tidbit about Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's life. Apparently, every year they invite Jack Black and his family over for Easter, because Angelina and Jack have gotten very close over the years making the Kung Fu Panda movies. Now this is surprising for a few reasons. First, you typically hear a lot about how stars of animated movies often never even meet each other during the recording process, let alone spend so much time together that they can grow close. But they've obviously promoted the films together over the years, so maybe that's where this comes from. The other reason this is surprising is because Jack Black is awesome and seems like a fun-loving goofball. That's what I (and more importantly the American people) love about him.

Now, I adore Angelina Jolie. She's a badass. She's dealt with some serious medical issues. She's spent a lot of time doing humanitarian work. And she's an interesting filmmaker. But "goofball" isn't the energy I associate with her. No, her energy seems pretty free from goof. But they're buddies, and that's cool. Here's how I imagine that goes.

INT. THE JOLIE-PITT ESTATE - DAY

It's another quiet, calm day in this beautifully appointed mansion. We move through various rooms and catch sight of the many Jolie-Pitt children. All of them are wildly talented at one thing or another. One is doing complex math equations on her chalk board. Another is doing Olympic level gymnastics in his room. A third is feverishly typing on a typewriter. Etc. They're basically an idealized version of the kids from The Royal Tenenbaums. ANGELINA and BRAD sit on a lovely couch, each reading heavy, leather books.

Then, out of nowhere we hear the sound of Black Sabbath's "War Pigs." At first it's faint.

ANGELINA: Do you hear that, Bradley? BRAD: Hear what, hon? ANGELINA: Never mind. Must be nothing.

But it's not nothing, and Angelina knows it. Slowly the volume increases. It's getting closer. She turns to her husband.

BRAD: Okay, yeah. I definitely hear that. A classic ruckus. ANGELINA: What is it? BRAD: (WISTFULLY) That's what we like to call rock and roll. ANGELINA: Thanks. So helpful. BRAD: (NOT GETTING HER SARCASM, SINCERE) No problem. I'm happy to help you, darling. ANGLINA: You're so pretty. (THEN) No, why is it loudly play--

At the same moment, Brad and Angelina realize what that noise means.

BRAD AND ANGELINA: Oh, no. It's Easter.

The song is now deafening as the door suddenly blasts open. Standing there is JACK BLACK, his kids run out in front of him. Jack crosses to the couple, who is trying to cover.

JACK: Brangelina! Or as I like to call you, Angel-bradina.

Jack kisses Angelina's hand. Brad puts out his hand, but Jack slaps it away and plants an over the top kiss on Brad (almost Bugs Bunny style).

BRAD: Hey Jack. ANGELINA: It's great to see you, Jack— BRAD: So great. You're the best, man, but we are just so swamped today— ANGELINA: Totally. Very busy. JACK: Hey! I get that. Children to raise. Refugees to... refuge or whatever. That's cool. I'm happy to help. Point me to where you keep Sarah McLachlan and the sad dogs. BRAD: We're actually having a reading day and it's something we take pretty seriously, so...

Jack opens Brad's book revealing that it was hiding a Mad Magazine.

BRAD: (DEFENSIVE) They actually have a really great thing in there about Donald Trump. ANGELINA: Do they? BRAD: They do! It's called (SHEEPISHLY) Donald Rump. It imagines what the election would be like if he had a butt for a head. (LONG, SHAMEFUL BEAT, THEN QUIETLY) It's satire. JACK: Sounds like you guys have plenty of time... to party!

A guitar comes down from the ceiling on strings and Jack does a killer guitar riff as his kids get the Jolie-Pitt kids to form a mosh pit.

ANGELINA: Where did the guitar come from?

SCENE.

Or you know, they look for Easter eggs and have brunch and it's a delightful, normal day. But it's definitely one or the other.
