Just as a matter of interest Scott, here is another variety of the same species I had in flower a few weeks ago. You can see how variable they can be. Better to find them in flower if possible before purchase. Peter
Sweet!! Actually... That's the type that I really had in mind. :~) These fricken' Bulbo/Cirrs! There's always so many variations, it makes it difficult to ID what you want. Gotta' love 'em, though!;~) They're definitely not the same 'ol...same 'ol! ;~)
As Scott wanders off to see what's in bud...;~) Hmm! A Cirr. medusae is doing something interesting! Maybe...could be...?
Being optomistic, they're flowers. Realistically...new growth!;~)
Although I'd love to see this one in flower, I would sort of prefer more growth. I'm pretty sure that, out of all of 'em, I've been keeping this one far too wet. I have understood that Cirr. medusae prefer to dry out between waterings and this has been just dripping with it. Typical, the ones that like water are dry and the ones that like to more dry are wet!;~) I just repoted this and added more pellets for drainage.
Unless someone else chimes in with more info, we'll just have to wait a little longer. Cool! In checking on things, I've several others in spike!:~)
I couldn't agree more Scott about letting the plant dry out between waterings. But isn't that true with about 90% of all orchids. All my Bulbos and small growing Africans are mounted and get watered every other day by which time they are almost dry. I have found that any plant with bulbs and fleshy leaves would survive many weeks with out water, very difficult to kill that way. I have some Cattleya species that have only been watered once or twice since last September.Keep watering a wet plant and the roots are the first to go and then the leaves start to turn the dreaded yellow. Anyway lets hope we have a flower spike to look forward to and may your plant produce many new growths.
