Long story short, "Simplify your values into 3 or 4 values only with hard edges and if the point of the image doesn't read from that go back to the drawing board!"

Good luck! If you need help coming up with compositions that read well, try looking at the old masters and see how they did it!
Lovely!! I've actually been doing VERY similar landscape studies based on Noah Bradley's Art Camp videos! Start with four values, add rough values. It's so amazing how well it helps you learn! :D
