A Moment of (Twitter) Silence for Flip Saunders

If you're on Twitter, please consider joining us in paying homage to Flip Saunders.

Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

Flip Saunders, a native of Cleveland who rose to fame as a collegiate player and professional head coach in the Twin Cities, died Sunday at the age of 60. Since the news of his passing broke, there have been many touching tributes circulating the web, from former and current players, opposing coaches, media members and friends alike.

It's a small thing, but I'd like to ask for all of your help performing one more humble tribute to the Timberwolves' fallen coach. A bunch of us in Twin Cities media, as well as the Timberwolves and Lakers organizations, Hardwood Paroxysm, SB Nation and many other great websites, have organized a social media moment of silence to pay homage to Flip.

The plan is simple:

1. The Wolves and Lakers are set to tip off this Wednesday, Oct. 28 at 9:30 p.m. CT.

2. The moment of Twitter silence will start at the opening tip.

3. Those who participate will step away from Twitter until the Wolves make their first basket. After the first bucket, the moment of silence will be over.

If those of you with a Twitter account would be so kind as to join in, we'd really appreciate it. Like I said, it's a very small thing, but we wanted to do something to honor a guy who was vital to Minnesota basketball, and carried himself with humility and grace while he did it.

Thank you.
