I bought this camera to replace one like it that I've used with great success for more than ten years but developed card formatting issues. It was cheaper to buy this than getting the old one repaired. This now old and "obsolete" 3.1 megapixel camera produces photos as good if not better than many of today's 16mp and higher cameras. The autofocus seems to be better than most and close-up shots are great. If the subject doesn't pretty well fill the viewfinder, though, it may focus on the background rather than the subject. It can be manually focused to avoid that problem. I bought a new 16 mp name-brand camera and this produces consistently better pictures for a fraction of the price.
This camera is a great camera for the non pro. Since it has no interchangeable lenses you have certain limitations but for the price it excels in photo quality
