Great wee camera for those who want to take general snapshots, and people learning about photography, ideal for the pocket smaller than a packet of cigs.I bought it for my niece who breaks every thing, she cant go wrong here not many controls, very basic, but does the job.
Being a keen photographer I usually use an SLR camera but find that it can be cumbersome to carry such a big camera all the time, so I thought a smaller camera would be a good idea so that I could stick it in my pocket on a daily basis. Looking through the compact digital cameras I came across the Dimage X31, which is basically a 3.1 megapixel camera with an integrated 3 times optical zoom that stays in side the camera and does not protrude from the body of the camera so this should make it harder to brake. Most of the camera body is made of some type of metal so this also offers it some better protection over the normal plastic ones, the only down side is the battery door that is made of plastic but should not be too much of a problem. It takes standard AA size batteries but I suggest you use re-chargeable ones as standard alkaline’s run out quick. The camera although only 3 megapixels can take quite good snapshots, I have had the camera for about a month now and have taken some good photos with it. It can not replace a higher quality SLR based camera but for general use it is more than adequate. It is easier to use than my main camera in that it is a point and shoot model with some nifty tricks up its sleeve - photo frames being one of them. I would rate the camera 8/10 – only due to the fact that some of the photos can be a little blurry this is quite possibly due to it only being 3 megapixels. For general snapshots of the family and friends etc. I would recommend this great little camera to anyone, especially novices or people just starting out in photography.Read full review
Bought this for use as a birdcam. Opened it up and hotwired the switches to a microprocessor board so I can take pictures of birds on the birdfeeder. Got some excellent shots and video in good light and the internal optical zoom means you don`t scare the birds off. For the price it was excellent value.
I needed a small light camera that would fit easily in my pocket to take when I go walking in the hills, had to be cheap but reliable so a good make was essential, which is why I went for a minolta.Cost £10 and does everything I need, can't go wrong for that price and was really pleased with what I got.
