Simple to operate. Good value for money. Easy to handle and small enough to pop away in a haversack. It may be a relative old design by modern standards but the instruction book is easy to follow - far more so than many of them. All in all an excellent buy for a very amateur photographer
great value

A little camera that is ideal for beginners with it's lack of complexity and also a good knockabout second camera when you don;t want to be too obvious or intrusive. I owned this camera for four years, only selling to move onto a newer 6 MP camera (Canon IXUS 800IS) that I thought would produce better pictures. I found that in daylight conditions, this camera easily matched the newer camera and surprisingly, I was able to get good quality prints of up to A4 size from only 2 MegaPixels. One of the key points here is that the picture isn;t killed off by excessive noise reduction as with more modern cameras. Also, it's plastic construction should not deter people, as it is surprisingly robust and the slide-across cover offers the lens good protection when retracted. My only complaints are that in low light (you'll see the little 'hand' symbol when this is the case), images could be a little blurry and newer cameras will outperform this camera where the light is very low - placing on a stationary surface and using the timer will help here. The sliding cover will scratch the casing slightly after extensive use, however, this is a minor aesthetic point.Read full review
I have now had 3 of these cameras. They use two ordinary or rechargeable AA batteries, so no problems with charging in-situ batteries. Smallish display is OK, and a big plus is an optical viefinder for bright sunshine when lcd displays cannot be easily seen. Take good photos, with both optical and digital zoom. Simple to use, macro feature is good, and now cheap to buy. Only problem is children seem to break them by dropping them with the lens extended. (Uses XD picture cards).
Very easy to use, excellent quality pics (blow up to A4, clear and bright and no sign of dots). Well built, has optical zoom, video, uses ordinary AA batteries. Buy a 512MB memory card on ebaY for peanuts and you've enough capacity for 1000 decent-quality pics. If you haven't got the cables, buy a card reader from that well-known photo retailer Tesco for £10. I already had an A204 and decided that even my technophobe wife could use it :-)
