I happen to own 4 digital cameras at this price point and with similar specs. They are Basic point and shoots from the makers: Sony, Nikon, HP, and the Canon. My canon has the highest mgpix, but only by 2 over the rest. I have not enlarged photos off the canon, but would expect a slightly sharper print. Pictures on my monitor from it are very nice quality. There is little shortage with menu for this price range camera. Although, Me and Canon has never been on the same page as to the logic in placement and usage of words for their tools. I don't know if that is a statement you will hear from the majority of their new customers or just me. My other 3 cameras navigate me through the menu with much better understanding. I paid around $35.00 for it and feel that the used camera, which has no problems and shoots very nice pics.Read full review
I have owned several Canon Power Shots. I bought this model when it came out and immediately took it to Cambodia were I used it in the worst conditions of rain, vibration, humidity and dust for many years. In the provinces with no power I needed a camera that worked on disposable ‘AA’ batteries. This model uses ‘AA’ batteries and never failed even on cheap 10¢ carbon batteries. Dozens of trips in carry-on, hundreds of kilometers by bike on dirt roads, every elemental extreme on two continents, being left for six months in a travel bag up on a 120 degree storage mezzanine for the batteries to explode, card in and out hundreds of times, today I use it for eBay pictures and to carry to events; all without issue, that original camera is still working fine. I wanted a second one to keep handy in the car. A few operational hints: By setting the screen to go off quickly and not reviewing photos on the camera battery life is increased dramatically - many times over. Turning the camera off and on often helps also. This said a good set of quality batteries can last for well over a hundred photos. When you start to review and show photos the batteries die very quickly. Program your favorite settings into the manual mode and turn it on to manual rather than automatic. I set this once and left it for years. Never delete any but the last photo. Filling the card sequentially keeps the card from becoming fragmented. Deleting any but the last photo fragments the card and makes recovery of a corrupted card difficult. I have never had a corrupted card or lost a picture with this camera, though I have had it shut down many times as I try to squeeze one more photo out of a set of batteries.Read full review

I bought this because my first one broke after much use. I was familiar with its operation so I wanted the same camera. It's also a very good camera with a lot of features and the pictures come out great. The only problem I have is in heavy sun shine its hard too see the screen. I'm an amateur and have only had experience with one other camera Kodak easy share that ran on expensive lithium batteries. I can run this one on alkalines that I get at the Dollar store. I think this one works even better than my first one. It was used but looks brand new. The video is great for such a little camera. If you don't know much about cameras theres always the auto setting so you can just point and shoot. When I bought this I got only the camera because I already had the peripheral package contents download cd, book of instructions etc. If I were buying it for the first time I'd get the package deal and get yourself a 50 - 60 inch tripod so you can click without moving the camera. The dealer was true to his word and it got here quite quicklyRead full review
For me this should be WAY more expensive. It's just an amazing camera. It the following amazing features: - Autofocus - Light control - Supermacro (you can take pictures from 1 mm distance and get everything in great detail) - Image quality It's easy enough to use but is not those 10 dollar camera that has only 3 options. So it has a lot of options but not that much to confuse. I always thought this camera should be much more expensive. After 4 years of use and more than 20.000 pictures taken, mine decided not to work anymore. And guess what... I bought exactly the same one! Enjoy!
The small size and capability make this camera a winner in everything I use a camera for. The higher pixel count produces great pictures, even built up to larger sizes. Capability to make short movies is nice, so long as a large enough SD memory is used. I chose a 2gb SD for most situations. I am very pleased with the 3 Canon A470 cameras I have purchased and used or given away. My friends have enjoyed using them, too. Rechargeable batteries last longer than previous cameras I used. The software that comes with the new camera makes downloading pictures a snap and very easy.
