Older and outdated - But easy to use and good image quality. I'm on my third one in ten years. As long as they are available, I'll be buying them.

Wont take the 64gb san disk sd I bought, will only take about 3 photos and memory is full. there was no cable to connect to computer, have to buy one separatly on line. I saw that there was an update you can do on computer for memory, but have to wait for cable to connect and see if that will work. Other wise it is unusable now, but there may be hope still. I broke my other coolpix, by dropping it, this has same buttons , so is familar .

I've owned this camera since 2005. Always works perfectly. Takes clear photos. Keep in mind that 6.2 megapixels here is fairly low resolution by 2014 standards. Only downside for this camera is that it draws high battery current. The camera actually gets warm when in use. It'll suck the 2 AA cells down to nothing in less than 50 snapshots. I use rechargeable batteries to lessen expense. Since I now use a Nikon SLR with much higher pixel resolution, I have the complete L-1 package at E-bay auction for just $40.
This little wonder is perfect for taking eBay listing photos. Gets *extremely* close at widest angle setting, so I can show tiny detail on items like jewelry, fountain pens etc. I mostly use a light box, but for quick and easy shots the flash does not get blocked at widest zoom setting. File size at JPEG Fine setting is great for eBay listings. Lens is impressive. Color is very true. I shot tens of thousands of photos with the first one I bought. Battery door got loose (happens a lot even with DSLRs) so I just got another one of the same model for less than the cost of a replacement battery door. I use that second one for eBay. I kept the first one around, tape the door to keep it from getting worse, and just carry it in my pocket when I go out to take "found" shots of landscapes, people, whatever. Takes good basic video as well. the self-contained lens cover is a big plus. I have several very impressive 8x10 prints of images captured with this camera, It is not fancy, has no HD video or the many bells and whistles, but is a great "walk around" pocket camera. It is what it is - of course the lens has barrel distortion at wide angle, and the flash is only good for 10 feet at ISO 400 and with a tailwind, but it is an incredible value. Fair notice - it is greedy for batteries, but use rechargeables and you won't notice as long as you have spares. If either one of mine ever breaks, I get another.Read full review

I purchased one of these new ($135.00) from a Staples retail store in 2006. Used it daily, and after over 6000 images taken it finally quit. Things wear out... It always performed very well in all circumstances - All one needs to do is read the instructions, experiment with every setting available (and there are MANY) and it will perform well for you. My specialty is macro shots of jewelry, military badges and insignia. It works the best with a white velvet backdrop in indirect natural light or a high quality light box WITHOUT UTILIZING THE FLASH. The images are striking with no help needed from any photo editing program after that. Just crop and show. In any case, I have just purchased another on on ebay for twenty five bucks. It is only 6 MP, but whatever... I have bought point and shoot double and triple MP cameras, and they can't hold a candle next to this one. What a waste of money and time. I hope this guy lasts me another eight years. I would think that it will. Perhaps I should stock up...Read full review
