SteadyShot picture stabilization system compensates camera "shake". DCR-TRV530 allows to capture video even in total darkness (0 lux) using the built-in infrared system up to ten feet (3 m) away. The Super NightShot mode automatically adjusts the shutter speed to increase picture brightness and clarity. 7-mode program A/E provides a quick and easy setting for the proper exposure, shutter, and depth of field for a variety of environments.You can capture digital still images directly onto MemoryStick media. During video playback, pause mode or while viewing still images stored on MemoryStick digital media, you can zoom in up and store the zoomed images. Using Sony's unique Adaptive Frame Interpolation for better image quality, you can store hundreds of individual still images with 7 seconds of audio on to the tape. Sony's Digital 8 camcorders feature LP recording mode for up to 90 minutes of spectacular digital video on a standard P6-120 Hi8 cassette. 16-bit recording capability offers the outstanding CD sound quality. 12-bit recording enables signal transfer via i.LINK for dubbing and non-linear editing. 3 1/2" (8,8 cm) SwivelScreen color LCD display, that could be rotated up to 270-degrees, provides excellent viewing clarity.Sony DCR-TRV530 Digital 8 Handycam camcorder, utilizing Stamina technology, records up to 10 hours, using the viewfinder, with the optional InfoLithium M-series battery. Intelligent accessory shoe provides operational commands to Sony Intelligent Accessories via an 8-pin interface. This enables easy synchronized operation between the Handycam camcorder and such accessories as video lights, infrared lights, and microphones. Super LaserLink wireless transmission system allows user to transmit signal via infrared from the camcorder to optional IFT-R20 LaserLink receiver at a distance of up to 26 feet (8 m) for true worry-free playback.     Older model video cameras still have their values

    A workable 8mm digital Sony video camera is hard to come by, yet there are still historical 8 mm video cassettes requiring post editing work. And so far, there is no substitute technology to process this video.

    The Best All Around Digital8 Camcorder

    This review would hold true for both the TRV330 and the TRV530. LCD size is the "Only" difference. I bought one of these (along with a TRV830)to transfer my old 8mm to DVD, and also to play my 8mm back on my TV. These Digital 8"s do a better playback job then the original 8mm cameras they where recorded on. What I didn't realize was that it made great video too. Good to have around if you need a back up real quick. So the tapes are a bit bigger, and the camera is a little heavy. You'll have to look very closely to see much difference between the average miniDV and this one. In Fact all the cameras in this series,(TRV230, 330, 530, 730 and 830)where the last digital 8's that still had the wireless super laser link to play back your videos without av cables with the optional IR receiver.     Can't duplicate features with newer camera

    I've had one of these for years. Mostly, I use it for stills of my dogs & horses. I video them, then run the playback, frequently frame by frame, creating still(s) of the best frame(s). I also use it this way to analyze a student riding, or a horse moving, and by creating a still for each frame can really see what is happening even better than slow motion. I also get much better pictures than I have ever been able to get with a still camera. I recently bought a current model SONY expecting the same quality and features but was seriously disappointed. The individual frames were blurred if the animal was moving - obviously a much slower shutter speed. Also, the number of frames per second were much lower, so moving from one frame to the next left big gaps in the action. Plus the ...

    Really Nice

    I already have a DCR TRV740 Sony camcorder and wanted another so with two cameras I could keep taping while changing tape in the other one. I chose this one because it also uses 8mm video tape and the same batteries that I already have. I think this it the top camera Sony made for 8mm video tape. It has more features than the TRV740. The 25x optical zoom it outstanding. I edit my videos on my computer so I'm not interested in the titling and fades, but it has a respectable number of options. I like the 8mm format because the tapes are very in-expensive and can tape for 1 hour. This camera can tape for 90 minutes in LP mode. I'm looking forward to using it.

    Sony Digital8 Hi8

    I only bought this to play old tapes. I do not use it to record current events. But it is a feature rich camcorder when compared to current camcorders. Many more features.
