Product Information

Capable and versatile, the PowerShot G6 packs a vast array of advanced technology into a compact, ergonomic body, all working in concert to unleash new levels of photographic control. From the minute you pick it up, the PowerShot G6 inspires confidence. All key controls fall immediately under your fingertips and the rubberized grip makes the camera feel like an extension of your hand. Flip out the large 2.0" vari-angle LCD and you are ready for anything. The 7.1 Megapixel resolution allows detailed prints in excess of A3 size and prints without loss of detail from tight, post-shoot crops.Great in low light conditions, the fast f/2.0 - f/3.0 lens has a versatile focal length range of 7.2 to 28.8mm (35-140mm equivalent in 35mm format). An SLR-style Mode Dial allows you to call up any one of 12 different shooting modes. Two custom modes can be used to save and retrieve your favorite combination of settings. With incredible speed, Canon's purpose-built DIGIC processor executes the complex algorithms required for accurate image rendering. The result is superb quality images, more accurate focusing and metering, longer battery life and fast start-up times.Like a built-in photographer's assistant, iSAPS improves auto exposure, auto white balance and auto focus accuracy by monitoring settings and readings, and using these to interpret the shooting situation. When you need to be fast, the 9-point AiAF focuses quickly on your subject, even when it is off-center. For full control, FlexiZone AF/AE allows scrolling and selection of the auto focus point from across the frame. For total post-shoot control, the PowerShot G6 supports simultaneous JPEG and lossless RAW image recording for both flexibility and flawless 'digital negatives'. ZoomBrowser (Windows) and ImageBrowser (Mac) help manage your work, while ArcSoft PhotoStudio provides extensive image editing and manipulation options.Your PowerShot G6 is fully PictBridge and Canon Direct Print compliant, allowing it to connect and print directly to any compatible photo printer.

    Great Intro Digital Camera

This compact camera offers decent point-and-shoot features combined with features that allow greater creative control for more sophisticated photography. The camera is also equipped with both an unusually fast lens for a compact camera (particularly of this vintage) and the option of setting ISO as low as 50 for some astoundingly sharp shots - especially given the camera's macro mode.

  • Canon PowerShot G6 is overall excellence.

The Canon PowerShot G6 is an excellent option for many reasons. In today's technological age, one might think this piece obsolete. However, it is not by a longshot. With its 7.1 megapixel output, this little gem is still very viable. It is a great point and shoot for the novice. Even more advanced photographers will enjoy the many features offered by the Canon PowerShot G6. Its features are reminicent of the pricey, bulkier SLRs. The 2.5" LCD, while a bit small, yields longer battery life than its larger counterparts. Canon PowerShot G6 LCD screen boasts an extremely rare swivel attribute. Anyone can easily shoot video footage head-on or catch the action below. Not only that, the swivel allows for self-staring video or portrait. This feature is great for kids in ...

  • Canon value in a prosumer digital camera

Great camera. I've bought two of these: one for my niece and one for my girlfriend - both photographic novices. They've had excellent results, thanks to camera ergonomics, excellent glass (G6 was last G-camera to use F2.0 optics, later models used IS in lieu of fast glass), terrific sensor and loads of features. If you don't want to use abundant feature, it works great on auto as well. Doesn't have later G-model problems with dust spots, lens getting stuck, etc. Also easier to hold onto. On the con side, focus can be agonizingly slow. Be careful that focus has been achieved prior to pressing shutter. Also don't know why Canon went from black G5 to GREY G6 back to black G7. Marketing mis-step I guess, and I imagine this keeps prices down. Personally I use a Pro-1 and would have a hard time ...

  • Awesome product, great camera to have

I bought this camera because of the reviews of others and it fit into my budget. It fit into my budget because it is an older model camera, but that doesn't diminish its quality. It is a quality, well-built camera. The side viewfinder takes a little getting used to. It produces Great quality pictures. Has enough options and features. I like the look, the feel is alittle different if your used to point and shoot. Without a lens, it is smaller and easier more mobile than some other DSLRs. So it's kinda like the best of both worlds. I enjoy taking pictures and I enjoy taking pictures with this camera. I know I didn't include any specs or technical info. That's easy enough to find, but in my opinion, this is a awesome camera.

  • Great quality photos, lots of features

The first thing you need to know is that this is a point and shoot camera, not an SLR. Although, it really is the next best thing. I owned a Canon PowerShot G6 years ago and loved it, so when I needed another point and shoot camera I bought it again. I especially like the macro and panoramic features. It works better than my SLR where these two features are concerned. The swivel view screen is really convenient too as it allows you to change the angle to help avoid glare on the screen. The view screen is pretty accurate, but the view finder isn't, especially when any amount of zoom is used. You do need to be particularly careful about water with this camera. I made the mistake of setting down my original camera beside me on the grass and only realized after I had fried the view screen ...
