The DMC-FZ3 is targeted at entry-level users of single-lens reflex cameras and families who want to shoot pictures outdoors. By offering features and functions generally found on cameras one class above, the DMC-FZ3 gives consumers an easy way to get in on the fun of capturing beautiful digital pictures.

The DMC-FZ3’s real talking point is the full range 12x optical zoom (equivalent to 35 mm to 420 mm on a 35 mm film camera), a feature normally associated with near professional models. This is teamed with the second-generation DC Vario-Elmarit lens, which inherits Leica AG’s optical excellence and gives you F2.8 brightness across the entire 12x zoom range. The camera captures every detail of distant subjects with superb clarity, and eliminates the need to crop your pictures, thus losing resolution.

The 3.1-megapixel DMX-FZ3 weighs only 290g, 10 percent smaller in size than its preceding model. The FZ3 is feature packed, easy to use and offers amazing picture quality. Its high end specification belies the affordability of the camera, making it a great option for any budding photographer.

As digital cameras become smaller and lighter, user hand-shake can occur more frequently, resulting in blurry images. MEGA Optical Image Stabiliser (O.I.S.) offsets jitters every time, using a gyrosensor that detects even the slightest shaking of the camera and sends a signal to a linear motor, which adjusts the lens elements. In the new models, this compensation system is integrated with the Venus Engine II Image Processor, so handshaking is detected and adjusted faster to produce clearer and sharper images. The improved MEGA O.I.S. allows perfect telephoto shots and night photography without using a tripod.

The DMC-FZ3 boasts the enhanced Panasonic Venus Engine II high speed image processing system, which delivers superb image rendering and unmatched processing speed. The Venus Engine II has improved horizontal and vertical resolution by more than 10 percent compared to our previous Venus Engine, reduced the noise in dark areas and achieved more precise color reproduction with an advanced 12-axis independent color adjustment. In addition, the Burst Shooting Mode allows you to capture up to ten full-size images in standard mode at a lightening quick four frames per second. Particularly helpful when photographing a moving object, the Burst Shooting Mode allows the user to take a series of shots and select the best from these to keep. Newly installed Infinite Consecutive Shooting function allows limit-free consecutive shooting up to the capacity of the SD card [1].

With the DMC-FZ3, an AF method that can be selected according to the shooting situation; 9-point AF, 3-point AF, 1-point AF, or spot AF. Meanwhile in the 3-point AF, high-speed AF is achieved by obtaining the focus information from the CCD by double frequency. In addition, AF assist lamp is newly equipped for expanding the AF capability even at night or under low-light conditions.

The DMC-FZ3 represents the perfect marriage between optical and digital technologies. Available now, with an RRP of £349.99
