It's a 12 megapixel ultra-compact camera available in five colors: green, pink, brown, blue and silver with a 28 millimeter equivalent wide angle lense and a 4x zoom, a 2.7 inch LCD on back and basic shooting options geared for snap shooters. It's compact but not nearly as small as its line mate, the SD1400IS. On the other hand, the SD1300's buttons and controls are easier to operate because there is room on the body to make them larger. The shooting mode switch on back of the camera has three options; one for its reliable auto mode, one for standard definition movie mode and one for accessing program auto and the camera's various scene modes as well. The camera is overall easy to operate so shouldn't be a problem for even first time users. Shooting performance is average for its class, heading towards slow, the biggest issue being shot to shot times. Photo quality is very good but not much better than similarly priced models from other manufacturers. In the end, it's a perfectly fine mid range point and shoot, particularly for those who never leave auto and don't care about HD video or other shooting options.
