Cautiously Optimistic
I had questions about their shipping, and used the Amazon messaging assistant and the Premium Rare Orchid web/contact form. They responded within several days.The two vanda orchids and two “surprise” orchids (Dendrobiums) were in a well labeled box, cushioned with newspaper and marked “fragile”. All four orchids arrived in small individual cloth bags identifying each bare root plant but without any moisture product placed around the roots. Now that it’s May, it’s hot! I am cautiously optimistic that all four plants that range from 4”-6” tall, with sturdy green foliage but dry roots will overcome being totally dry during the shipping process. Receiving four orchids is a good value, ONLY if they survive. Hoping a good soak will rehydrate them and they will settle into the terra cotta pots and vanda baskets. Wish I could give them more than 3 stars but…

I wanted to share a quick note with you all. The orchid I received is disappointingly tiny, even though it was advertised as a medium-sized one. It doesn't seem to align with the value of the money you will spend. While I recognize it's not in full bloom as stated on their website, and I am cool with it, I believe it should at least measure up to the medium size, considering the typical size of Vanda orchids. Plus, why would anyone send a dead dendrodium? This has been quite a letdown for me!

Package arrived today. Plant arrived in good condition and was packed with plenty of paper to protect it. It is much smaller than I expected, however. It’s only about 5-6” wide and tall with 2-3” roots. While the plant itself seems healthy, I’d say about half the roots look pretty iffy. Some of them broke off even when I ran them under water. So I’ve mounted it to the wood I prepared, which is huge but I’m hoping it will grow into it, and we will see how it goes.
As a bonus, I was also sent a small dendrobium gratis. It had the same root issues, with several breaking off while planting after soaking for a few minutes. I’m an experienced orchid grower so I do know how to replant properly. Again, we will see what happens.
