    From the Manufacturer

Fujifilm announces the arrival of the Fujifilm FinePix S3000, a digital SLR-type camera for everyday photographers. This model replaces the existing FinePix 3800, and will be available to consumers in October - just in time for the busy holiday season. The FinePix S3000 offers 3.2 million effective pixels to create crisp, colorful images perfect to share with family and friends through retail printing and email. The camera's compact, SLR-inspired styling and 6x optical zoom offer a familiar experience to consumers who already enjoy traditional photography.

The FinePix S3000 offers 3.2 million effective pixels, which can produce images of 2048 x 1536 (3.15 million) recorded pixels for best-quality prints up to 8 x 10 inches in size. The camera also offers 6x optical and 3.2x digital zooms, movie recording without sound and several scene positioning modes.

Fujifilm's FinePix S3000 digital camera offers the following array of features:

    • Resolution and color - The camera produces output files of 3.15 million recorded pixels, resulting in crisp, vibrant prints up to 8 x 10 inches in size.
    • Long reach - The FinePix S3000 also offers a long reach wide aperture 6x optical and 3.2x digital zoom, and works with optional wide and telephoto lens adapters, allowing photo enthusiasts to capture long-range subjects.
    • SLR-inspired styling - The camera's compact SLR-inspired body provides a familiar feel to everyday photo hobbyists and digital photography newcomers alike. The camera measures 3.9 (W) x 3.0 (H) x 2.7 (D) inches, and weighs 10 ounces without batteries and media. In addition, a user-friendly electronic viewfinder helps consumers take better pictures, and offers a playback mode that saves battery power.
    • Simple manual controls - Consumers who want to experiment with image control will be pleased with the FinePix S3000's semi-manual controls, while others will appreciate the camera's smart use of automatic features. The FinePix S3000 offers a portrait scene positioning mode, as well as continuous shooting at 2 frames per second, capturing up to 2 frames.
    • Lower power consumption - The FinePix S3000 offers consumers maximum power efficiency, and can take up to 350 images - using the LCD monitor, and with flash on half of the time - on a single set of four AA alkaline batteries.
    • Movie recording - The camera offers AVI movie recording at 10 frames per second without sound, allowing consumers to capture everyday events and special moments to play back for friends and family at a later date. The FinePix S3000 can capture 60-second 320 x 240 pixel movies, and approximately 240 seconds at 160 x 120 pixels. Package arrived as said. I don't know if it will work yet because I had to buy an fuji SD memory card. Do your work before buying. I'm not saying the camera doesn't work. Don't know. But it arrived with corroded batteries. Put new ones in and it turned on. SD memory card is expensive. I then bought a memory card reader because the software works up to Windows 2000. With all the added expenses I could have gotten a new camera. Again not criticizing camera itself. But corroded batteries could have ruined the camera. It didn't thoughSecond review after I got my sd memory card. I feel I wasted my money on this particular camera. The pictures are not sharp. When you take the camera out the pictures are hazy. Almost like there is a film across the lens. I wish I had spent the money I did on a new camera.

So first of all gotta say this seller is great. Had an issue and they resolved it perfectly.

Now to the camera. It's a bigginer camera so it does it's job. It's very easy to use on the automatic setting. My daughter absolutely loves it. The viewer has a blue tint to it, but the pictures come out great. She also likes how easy it is to go back and forth from shooting mode to viewing the picture mode.

    Overall great find!

Upon unpacking my camera I thought he/she sent me a new one by mistake . I couldn't be more happy with my first transaction with amazon. Initially,I was very surprized that a Fujifilm s 3000 was even available. I've owned one for about 9 years ,and it just decided to not power up anymore. I was heartbroken,I loved that camera!Realizing a repair would be expensive , I started running a search on Google. Lots of sites had them , but when I saw the Amazon link low and behold , there where 3 or 4 different vendors offering the s 3000 at various prices. I chose the one I did because , deep down inside I new the vendor was honest. The camera works perfectly , and I even received a few extra goodies . This model is rated at 3.2 megepixels , plenty for what I use the camera for . I originally paid 225.00 for my first one , and to get the value I got for 50.00 is way cool. I could go on , but anyone who has used a FujiFilm camera knows what I,m talking about. Thanks for giving me the chance to let everybody know how happy I am with my purchase . Thank , Steve

I am new to digital cameras. I was nervous reading some reviews and almost didn't buy because of alleged software issues. I had none such issues, was as easy or easier to set up than my printer. Nothing was loaded to my registry, USB mass storage device is what it is, and it DOES recognize it as a Fuji fine pix camera. I was able to use it almost out of the box after loading the batteries and reading the quick start menu. And for the price probably the best of all the ones I have researched.

I got this camera when my previous one died of simple old age, and it's been spectacular. For a bit of background, I'm a biology student, and I often have problems with other cameras because my subjects are either far away (on account of being skittish or lethally venomous) or quite small (various and sundry invertebrates).

This camera has been the perfect solution to my troubles. The resolution is great, and it works wonderfully for normal, day-to-day pictures. The macro works wonderfully, and I can get some great, hi-res closeups of some very small organisms and objects. On top of that, the zoom is nothing short of spectacular. It's no 10x, but it gets you *impressively* close to distant objects or animals. I knew it was a 6x when I bought it, but I didn't truly appreciate how good its zoom was until I used it.

I bought a 256 MB card for it too, and have not only never regretted it, I've more than made my money back compared to what I'd've paid for film and developing of a normal, non-digital camera.

I've had it for about a year, and it's never malfunctioned or broken. This is one high-quality item.

Bought this camera at a best buy store - Salesman said it was the new improved variety of the older FinePix 3800. I had been planning on buying a 3800 soon, before Christmas - since I was all ready sold on my daughter's FinePix 2800, which is a great camera and uses batteries so sparingly (3800 and 2800 are pretty much the same camera but with different pixel densities).
However, after I got the S3000 home and shot a few pics, I discovered that this so called 'IMPROVED' version of the 3800 has NO AUDIO mode for the video - whew! what an improvement, 'silent digital movies.' When I returned the 3000 to the store for a refund, I discover that best buy has a 15% restocking fee - cost me $45 to return. Unhappy me.
So today I am searching the net for a good buy on the older 3800, which has Audio & Video - and only a 6X zoom, less than the 10X zoom on the S3000.
So do you want Audio and Video or 10X zoom?
