About the authors
John David Mann is an award-winning author whose writings have earned the Nautilus Award, the Axiom Business Book Award (Gold Medal), Taiwan's Golden Book Award for Innovation, and the 2017 Living Now Book Awards “Evergreen Medal” for “contribution to positive global change.” He is coauthor of the worldwide classic THE GO-GIVER with Bob Burg (more than 1 million copies sold) and 4 New York Times bestsellers. His books are published in 38 languages and have sold more than 3 million copies. His first novel, STEEL FEAR (coauthored with Brandon Webb) was released in July 2021; iconic author Lee Child called it “sensationally good—an instant classic, maybe an instant legend,” and it was nominated for a Barry Award. Jeffery Deaver hailed the 2022 sequel, COLD FEAR, as “one of the best crime novels of the year.” You can read John’s thoughts on entering the world of crime fiction at https://bit.ly/36ASxAa
John has been creating careers since he was a teenager. At age 17, he and a few friends started their own high school in Orange, New Jersey called Changes, Inc. In his teens he forged a successful career as a concert cellist and prize-winning composer. At 15 he was recipient of the 1969 BMI Awards to Student Composers, then their youngest award recipient ever; his musical score for Aeschylus’s “Prometheus Bound” (written at age 13) was performed at the amphitheater in Epidaurus, Greece, where the play was originally premiered.
His diverse career has made him a thought leader in several different industries. In 1986 John founded and wrote for Solstice, a journal on health and environmental issues; his series on the climate crisis (yes, he was writing about this back in the eighties) was selected for national reprint in Utne Reader. During the nineties he built a multimillion-dollar sales/distribution organization of over 100,000 people. He was cofounder and senior editor of the legendary journal Upline and editor in chief of Networking Times.

Full Bio:
WEBB is a combat–decorated Navy SEAL sniper turned entrepreneur who has built two brands into an eight–figure business.
As a U.S. Navy Chief he was head instructor at the Navy SEAL sniper school, which produced some of America’s most legendary snipers.
Leaving home at 16 Brandon later joined the US Navy to become a SEAL. His first assignment was as a helicopter Search & Rescue (SAR) swimmer and Aviation Warfare Systems Operator with HS-6. In 1997 his SEAL training package was approved; he joined over 200 students in BUD/S class 215 and went on to complete the training as one of twenty-three originals.
He served with SEAL Team 3, Naval Special Warfare Group One Training Detachment (sniper cell) and the Naval Special Warfare Center (sniper course) as the Naval Special Warfare West Coast sniper Course Manager.
Over his navy career he completed four deployments to the Middle East and one to Afghanistan, and redeployed to Iraq in 2006–7 as a contractor in support of the US intelligence community.
An accomplished and proven leader, Brandon was meritoriously promoted to First Class Petty Officer, ranked #1 in the Command, while an instructor at sniper cell. Shortly after he was promoted again to the rank of Chief Petty Officer (E-7).
He has received numerous distinguished service awards, including Top Frog at Team 3 (best combat diver), the Presidential Unit Citation (awarded by President George W. Bush), and the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation medal with “V” device for valor in combat. Webb ended his Navy career early to spend more time with his children and focus on entrepreneurship.
As an entrepreneur and creator Webb founded two brands, SOFREP.com and CrateClub.com, and bootstrapped Crate Club to eight-figure revenue before successfully exiting the business in 2020. He continues to run SOFREP Media Group, his military-content focused digital media company.
Webb is multiple New York Times bestselling author and is now focused on a new thriller series with his writing partner John David Mann. The first in their series, Steel Fear, is a high-seas thriller that follows the Navy’s first serial killer and the origin story for their future hero Finn.
Brandon attended undergrad studies Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, and Harvard Business School’s Owners Presidents program. He is a member of the Young Presidents Organization, and served as an appointed member to the veterans advisory committee at the Small Business Administration (SBA).
He enjoys spending time with his tight circle of incredible family and friends. When he’s not traveling or flying his plane upside-down, you can find him at home surfing the beautiful beaches of San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Tag team authors Brandon Webb and John David Mann did not disappoint in their follow-up action thriller, “Cold Fear.” While I liked their debut novel “Steel Fear” better, it doesn’t lessen the fact to how good Cold Fear is. Known for their nonfiction work, Webb and Mann are now 2-for-2 in the fiction thriller arena. In Cold Fear, Chief Finn (no second name given) – an AWOL Navy SEAL - is trying to track down three corrupt Navy SEALS who were with him in Yemen when a hideous tragedy happened that resulted in the death of numerous civilians. Subsequently, Finn was blamed for the debacle and has no memory of what happened and would like to clear his name. He believes the crooked three SEALs he's looking for can clear the record and at the very least clear his conscience. Also, while investigating that past tragedy in Yemen, a young woman mysteriously drowns – and a local police detective suspects that Chief Finn is somehow involved. What's worse, a former Navy SEAL-turned assassin has been hired to make sure that Finn doesn’t get the answers that he's looking for. This is a non-stop, multi-layer thrill ride of a lone military warrior, facing overwhelming odds, tracking down three equally well-trained but unscrupulous Navy SEALs, and seemingly trying to avoid an invincible assassin on his trail, all at the same time! All the characters are solid, well-developed, and captivating. Nothing boring going on in this tale because these two authors know how to create tension, drama, and excitement! Between the murder mystery and hunting the Navy SEALs, this is a fabulous combination of a murder mystery and suspense. Cold Fear is a remarkable thriller and I highly recommend reading it.
"Two is one and one is none" as these 2 authors combine an abundance of knowledge and experience to bring this complex character to life.
Thoroughly enjoyable in all aspects.

I loved Steel Fear and was looking forward to the next book. This one is even better! Although complicated with the various people and plots involved, it still seemed easier to follow. Finn is another type of Reacher. He doesn't seem to have a home, travels light, and, for the most part, has integrity.
Steel Fear ended with the USS Lincoln chugging into San Diego and perhaps Finn would be absolved of false accusations or, more likely, people were still going to try and kill him. Cold Fear opens with Finn having disappeared before the Lincoln pulls into San Diego and we are all in Reykjavik, Iceland. Finn becomes obsessed with a death that is either suicide, a murder, or a bizarre accident. He can't explain why but he needs to know the answer. Meanwhile, the killer that was hired to kill him in San Diego is determined to finish the job. He has followed Finn to Iceland and a game of cat and mouse takes up the second half of the book.
I can't really tell you why I enjoyed this book so much. It is very well written and very thought-provoking questions are asked both of Finn and, of course, the reader. It is always easier when the villain and the hero are so black and white to root for good. But it doesn't deter enjoyment at all. Don't we all wish there were more Finns in the world today?

I remember staying at a resort in Mexico where two guests had been murdered a few weeks earlier. They implied a worker who disappeared had done it, but I couldn't help but wonder if it was a local or whether a tourist decided to add some foul play to their beach play and then dash off back home.
Cold Fear takes it many steps further and adds some new eccentric local characters and a visitor with some secrets of her own. Book two always has the downside of the characters no longer being brand new, yet the writing remains detailed and page-turning.
I won't add any more details, but I am intrigued to see where the following few books take this. With recent world events changing the landscape, there is plenty of room for more mysteries and twists. I highly recommend reading book one first. If you enjoy that, you will like this one.
