Evening Anchor

Abc 25 Hs Rochelle Dean
I have worked in the field of Journalism for 20 years. While I have lived in several different states, few have been as welcoming as the great state of South Carolina.

I have a host of family members who live across the Midlands and spent many summers here. My roots run deep in the Midlands, as my Grandmother and Grandfather met, and later graduated from Benedict College.

I however, was raised hundreds of miles away in a small town just outside of Hartford, Connecticut.

I have always had a place in my heart for the South and moved to Virginia to attend Virginia State University, where I majored in English and minored in Mass Communications.

I started my career in Journalism as a Public Relations Assistant for VSU (Go Trojans!), and as a Photojournalist for The Progress Index during college. During my Junior year, I accepted a position at WRIC TV 8 (ABC) in Richmond, Virginia, where I caught the television bug and spent the next thirteen years there exploring the many facets of this wonderful world of news.

I worked as an Assignment Desk Manager, General Assignment Reporter, and eventually a Fill-in Anchor.

During my tenure there, I was able to cover numerous National stories including the DC Sniper case, the Virginia Tech shootings, the Presidential election of Barack Obama, the dog fighting trial of NFL Star Michael Vick, and the National Boy Scout Jamboree which earned me an Associated Press Award for Best Spot News.

My husband, twin daughters, and I relocated to South Carolina in December of 2010.

I briefly worked at a television station here in Columbia where I reported, produced, hosted a weekly community show and anchored.

I am a member of the NAACP, The National Association of Black Journalists, The Columbia Chamber of Commerce, the American Cancer Society and am the CEO and founder of the Flora Foundation. An organization I started to help young people get money for college after losing a parent to Cancer, as did I.

I am an avid Dallas Cowboys Fan. Love the Boston Celtics!! In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family, taking part in community events, listening to live music, and attending church.

I am proud to be a steward of the community and look forward to covering the stories that are going to make a difference in the lives of South Carolinians.

You can catch me Weekdays as the evening Anchor at 5PM, 6PM & 11PM,  Live from Main and Gervais.
