Sony Ericsson K750i Review

Posted by Sankar on June 5, 2006

The model was launched several months back and it has got some great reviews all over. I am just writing this to post my thoughts about the phone. The phone is loaded with all the features that are pretty much considered standard these days. It comes with a 2.0 MP camera, Bluetooth, FM, MP3 player, 38 + 64 megs memory and more. I have been using the phone for about 2 months now and I guess I have explored enough features of the phone to really comment about it.

1) Look and Feel: I would give full marks for this category. The phone is very neatly designed and it fits well in your hand. The buttons are neatly laid out and aren’t too cramped. The feel is really good. The camera is also nicely enclosed behind a sliding cover which protects the lens cover from scratches and dust.

2) Specs: The specs are on par with most phones in this category. The screen size is 176 x 220 and supports 262K+ colors. The phone comes with a built-in memory of 38 Megs and a 64 Megs add-on card. The slot is also neatly laid out in the side.

3) Battery Life: I definitely have to say that the battery life is pretty good. I use the phone for a reasonable amount of time each day and I get about 3 days for each charge. Of course it will vary based on the features used…Bluetooth, Camera etc will eat more of your battery.

4) Usability: The phone is very easy to use and navigate. I have been a fan of the SonyEricsson's joystick ever since my first model T300. The joystick has been greatly improved in K750i.

Tiny nifty features that I like a lot!!!

1) Every phone supports notes and reminders. There is a feature in K750i in which you can display a note in the main display in standby mode. This is pretty cool especially when you want to be reminded of something. Of course reminders are available… but they prompt only at the specified time. But with this option, the note is available on the main display (overlaying the wallpaper) all the time and hence you will have to look into it each time you use the phone. I use it regularly to remind me of tiny tiny stuff.

2) Another cool feature is when you want to take down a number while in conversation. You can just type in the number and it will stay in the display even after you end your existing call. This feature is available in current models, but wasn’t there in older models and in different brands. Really useful and saves you from scrambling for a pen while on the phone.

These tiny usability stuff is what makes a phone stand out from the rest.

On the whole, I would definitely recommend this phone to anyone looking out for a model in the mid-high range.
