Red Door Grille, the new Cajun-inspired restaurant from the owners of Bros. Houligan, opened Monday in the KingsPointe Village shopping center, 5964 S. Yale Ave.
The restaurant's hours are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday-Thursday, and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday. It will be closed Sundays.
Red Door Grille (not to be confused with Red Door Grill, a Missouri-based chain) took over the space that had formerly housed a cupcake business and a restaurant specializing in nachos.
The menu features such Louisiana cuisine classics as red beans and rice, chicken and andouille sausage gumbo, and po' boy sandwiches filled with shrimp, brisket, oysters or catfish.Ā
Other choices include sandwiches such as the blackened chicken sandwich and the open-faced brisket sandwich au jus; five burgers, including the Dr. John, topped with Cajun chili, cheese and onions; seven salads, augmented with proteins that include chilled shrimp, grilled salmon and fried chicken; and baskets built around various deep-fried delicacies, from artichoke hearts to oysters.

After three years with the Louisiane, the McMurchy brothers decided to open their own restaurant, which was the original Bros. Houligan at 2508 E. 15th St. A second location opened in 2006 at 9701 E. 61st St.; it closed in 2015, when the south Yale restaurant opened at 4848 S. Yale Ave.
The original Bros. Houligan location closed in January, when the owners accepted an offer from someone wanting to purchase the property.
