The charm of Cymbidium finlaysonianum

in #flowers7 years ago (edited)

For flower lovers certainly no stranger with this flower, you might even have a lot in your garden. Yes, this is the Cymbidium finlaysonianum in the family Orchidaceae. This tropical lithophytic orchid is native to the rainforests across peninsular Southeast Asia, which spread to North India, China, Japan, Malaysia, the Philippines, Borneo and northern Australia.

I get this orchid at home while visiting my relatives in SimpangPaya, Nibong subdistrict, North Aceh. I see it grow in water apple tree among branches of a tree, at a height of about 2.5 meters. There is only one flower stalk and length up to 70 cm dangling down and has about 18 flowers, and also has a long leaf. The flowers are golden yellow tend to brown. One of the strand of flowers resemble tongue and rolled down with a brownish red combined with white.

I saw this orchid seems to grow without the care of their owners, unfortunately I did not get asked. But even so, this orchid grows enormously and give a beautiful flower for each eye of the beholder.

Thanks

Orchids! I like them so much! Unfortunately in my country we can only grow some varieties indoors.

In Aceh can grow very lush anywhere. Orchids for you.
