Competitive maps: Callouts
Por noö
Hi, I'm Dé-Jà-Vu and in this guide, I will talk about maps and how different locations are named. This is useful for competitive play, as you can tell what's happening at a certain location without having to write a book or make a speech on mumble.

Note: this guide is still in progress, other maps are to come. So stay tuned.

Make your own names
"The easiest way to come up with names for areas on maps is to designate three generic terms for each point. You can apply this to any new map by labeling the travel routes this way, and if there are more than 3 ways to attack it's probably a ♥♥♥♥ map anyway. My teams over the past couple seasons have generically called one way to go "choke" another "flank" and the third less used route "sneaky" or if it's really annoying (like the hiding spot at gully last), "gay". Decide what works for your team and apply labels and you'll get used to calling the same things on every map." - meb

Tips:
  • Many times using "left", "main/center", "right", "top/upper", or "bottom/lower" conventions and their combinations are better to use since they are quickly grasped.

  • At mid(middle point) it is important to specify which side - "theirs" or "ours" - you are referring to when comming a point of interest. Say "scout in our house" not "scout in house".

  • Several names listed in the labels contain too many syllables to be said quickly and easily. Notice that "battlements" is usually called "batts", "resupply" = "resup", "maintenance" = "maint".

That's it
I hope you liked this guide and I will improve it and add more maps in the future.

And again, a big thanks to meb for making the pictures I used in this guide.

Don't forget to rate, comment and share, and be the grammar nazi you want to be ;)

Stay tuned as I will upload more maps within the next week.

Have a nice day.

Can you ask meb to create printable versions of maps? That would be AWESOME for strategic thinking, creating and improving callouts and stuff!
