Christina's World (inspired by the painting by Andrew Wyeth) by Rosing published on 2013-06-30T04:50:46Z I bought a print of the painting "Christina's World" by Andrew Wyeth on a street corner and put it up in my room at college. A few months later a song emerged. I've always loved artists and eventually I had a series of songs paying homage to their work. This one got it all started. Christina's World Music & Lyric by Richard Rosing Out in an open field a young girl lies She's turned away so I can't see her eyes She's watching the hill around the houses rise Her name is Christina A broken road leads to the gray background Where time walks by without a sound There's not another living thing around No one but Christina Does the tall brown grass bristle your skin? When did this mood you have begin? Are you just a child that's fallen again? Or lost inside a life that could've been? A summer day in nineteen-forty-eight The shadows start to show it's getting late But it seems as if the girl will always wait The girl named Christina Always reaching out but no one is there Over and over, like a prayer Never look away from eternity's stare It's hard to know you in nowhere Christina makes her wishes to the wind Right now it seems to be her only friend And you have to be such a lonely girl To live within Christina's World Genre Folk & Singer-Songwriter Comment by hughesrazzz I was in a songwriting classeith Richard about 35 years ago. I will never forget how deeply moved I was when Richard went to the piano and played with such talent, intellegence, and emotion. I haven’t to this day been so enameed and amazed by someone 2019-04-11T10:58:48Z
