Yellow-flowered inflorescence of Mexicoa ghiesbreghtiana (Orchidaceae), Iltis collection #2234, Cerro de Cumbre, Sierra de Manantlán, Jalisco. 2,000 m altitude. This genus of orchids is endemic to Mexico. One of those big surprises: Hugh Iltis stuck a root of an orchid in his shirt and later planted it in the UW-Madison Botany Greenhouse; it bloomed 3 years later.
