Paphiopedilum Macabre Midnight
Glossy, deep burgundy to black petals and a contrasting white dorsal sepal. Very striking flowers! The photo is the first one to bloom…not quite open yet but enough register it and see what we can expect from the cross.
These are seedlings in 2.25″ pots, about 8-12 months from blooming. Not quite as large as we usually offer but they are strong and healthy. We are only releasing a few for now, more will be available in Fall 2023. Limit 2 per customer.

Paphiopedilum Macabre Midnight is a cross of (Hawaiian Treasure x Macabre Illusion). Most of these should have solid deep burgundy petals…some will be almost black. This is a very popular line of breeding as everyone seems to love these dark colored petals that contrast with the white dorsal.
There will be a few oddballs from the cross with spotted petals as that is the nature of breeding when you get to these more complex Maudiae hybrids.
