Vanda orchids are very widespread throughout most tropical and subtropical areas of Asia, New Guinea and Northern Australia. The monopodial growth of the plants means they can grow into large plants. The fan-like structure of the leaves and broad foliage give an indication that they enjoy relatively bright light without being in full sun. Plants grow with masses of aerial roots which hang from the branches of their host trees in nature.
