Willcom, Sharp and Microsoft have presented a new Pocket PC running on Windows Mobile 5.0 in Japan. Powered by a 416MHz Intel PXA270 processor, the W-ZERO3 [es]/WS007SH is the successor of the W-ZERO3/WS003SH, to which it adds a standard phone keypad, beside the sliding QWERTY keyboard.

The new keypad has led to a reduction in the size of the LCD screen from 3.7 inches to 2.8 inches, but the display managed to retain the same 640 x 480 pixel resolution and 65k colors capability. The phone's dimensions have also dropped to 135 x56 x 21 mm, making the device lighter at 175 grams. The internal memory consists of 128 MB flash (60 MB available to the user) and 64 MB of SDRAM, with the possibility of expansion via miniSD cards.

Also found on the phone are a 1.3 megapixel camera and an USB port with USB-HOST function that allows for the plug in of external devices. The handset comes with preinstalled Opera Mobile for web browsing, as well as other productivity applications like Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Office Mobile (Word Mobile/Excel Mobile/PowerPoint Mobile), Windows Media Player 10 Mobile for Pocket PC, Picsel PDF Viewer, JAVA platform "JBlend", W-ZERO3 mail.

Available only in Japan on July 27th, the phone will be priced at about $321 or $260 with a one-year contract.
