This delightful species provides a display of lavender and purple that rivals and is reminiscent of its autumn-flowering sister from Brazil,Cattleya labiata. Were it not for their wide difference in blooming season, the flowers of one could easily be mistaken for the other.Cattleya warneri is a good species for beginners. Provide warm temperature and high light levels in the winter are essential for development of flowers. It prefers a warm spot in the intermediate greenhouse. Grow in pots with an open, free-draining media (i.e. coarse fir bark). Repot only when new roots begin to grow in the early summer.
