Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-S2000 and DSC-S2100

Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-S2000 and DSC-S2100

The biggest difference between the S2000 and the S2100is the onboard sensor. The S2000 is equipped with a 10-megapixel CCD sensor, while the S2100 packs a 12-megapixel CCD array. The inclusion of the higher-quality CCD over CMOS is another reason that these cameras promise to perform well.

The other major difference between the two digicams is the LCD screen. The S2000 comes with a 2.5-inch LCD, while the diagonal length of the S2100’s screen is 2 inches.

Both the cameras feature 3x optical zoom and have the ability to record VGA video. The onboard flash boasts of a range of up to 3.3 metres. The data itself can be stored on a Memory Stick Duo or Pro Duo card.

Apart from all these features, the cameras come loaded with proprietary Sony technologies such as SteadyShot image stabilisation, Smile Shutter technology and Face Detection that can recognise up to eight faces in a single shot.

The only downside of the two cameras is that they are powered by two AA batteries, which leads to lesser battery power and more weight than a rechargeable lithium-ion battery.
