This breeding is to develop the potential for breeding  near or black Cycnoches. Cyc. Jean E. Monnier (Cyc. barthiorum x Cyc. cooperi) ‘Dark Swan’ is a one of just a few from this grex that had flowers with a solid dark chocolate color. It produces 30 flowers on each inflorescence!  This cultivar of Chloroge (Cyc. chlorochilon x Cyc. loddigesii) allows for the color pigments to suffuse over the surface of the flower segments, an unusual attribute in breeding Cycnoches.  Here we are anticipating this grex to produce dark flowers of large size (another attribute of Chloroge) these plants are exhibiting good vigor and this hybrid feels like its going to be good.
