Paphiopedilums or lady slipper orchids, have characteristic pitcher-like flowers. Although they appear carnivorous in shape and physiology, they do not eat insects. They have very similar care requirements to the more common Phalaenopsis (moth orchid) genus. This Paph is a Multifloral type meaning it will produce 2-5 large blooms on a single spike about once a year! Multifloral paphs typically like Cattleya growing conditions - warmer and on the dryer side than mottled leaf Paphs.

Photo is representative of blooms you can expect to see but is not the exact bloom of this plant. There is some variety in color, shape and patterning from plant to plant. This is a blooming size plant, but unless stated it will not arrive in bud.

MULTIFLORAL PAPHIOPEDILUM CARE INFO:

Potting mix: Coarse/fine bark mix. Repot in Spring once per year to prevent acidification of bark.

Light: Bright-indirect light. Place within 3 ft of a bright light source or window.

Water: Water frequently in hot months when media reaches dry. Allow drying between waterings but don't let it stay dry. Flush the pot monthly with clean water to prevent salt buildup.

Temp: Intermediate-warm (50F min night, 85F max day).

Humidity: 30-60%, tolerant of moderate-low humidity.

Fertilizing: Heavy feeder during the growing season (Spring-Fall). 1/2 strength urea-free fertilizer, every to every other watering as new roots and leaves emerge. Decrease to 1/4 or 1/8 strength once monthly in Winter.
